Saves privately on this device. No account needed.

## Plan the experience

Planning estimates, not a price quote or a deadline. Your version may vary.

Time

A quiet 30–60 minute session, with a later reread if you want one.

Cost

Free with paper or a private document.

Where

Somewhere you can write without having to explain the result to anyone.

## Before you start

Choose an age or a particular moment rather than addressing your whole past. A photograph, old address or song can help you remember the ordinary details. You can choose a manageable memory and stop whenever you want.

## How you would actually start

- Begin where you were

Describe what that younger person knew and what they could not yet know. Use the voice you would use with someone you care about. Try to recognise their circumstances before giving advice from the present.

- Say what you want them to hear

Write what changed, what you appreciate about them and what you would handle differently now. You do not need to forgive everything or explain every event. Specific observations are more useful than a page of general encouragement.

- Choose what to keep

Read the letter once and underline one sentence you want to remember. Date it and decide whether to keep, revise or discard it. If you keep it, store it privately rather than feeling obliged to publish the exercise.

## What counts as done

You have written a complete letter to a particular past self and chosen what to do with it. Feeling transformed is not a requirement.

There is no audience to impress. A short, honest letter is enough, and the exercise does not have to cover difficult memories.

When you finish, mark it fulfilled in [My list](https://significanthobbies.com/bucket-list) . You can remember it in your [weekly journal](https://significanthobbies.com/journal) .
